Background

About Suzanne Kyte

Suzanne is an experienced community and cultural practitioner who has applied her research, community engagement and partnership broking skills to placemaking projects for local and state government, and the private sector in Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales and the ACT. Her specialist expertise has contributed to diverse place projects that include integrated placemaking strategies, adaptive re-use projects, planning and development for new and diverse communities, open space and foreshore planning, cultural precincts and regeneration projects, multipurpose facility planning, and cultural program and policy development, implementation and evaluation. Suzanne's experience and expertise helps bring together built environment specialists, community and other stakeholders. Her approach focuses on identifying cultural and community resources and strengths, and existing placemaking practices, building partnerships, and developing tailored opportunities that deliver cultural, social, economic and environmental benefits for clients, communities and stakeholders. She is passionate about good practice, teaching and research. In addition to her consultancy business, she teaches at Griffith University and has delivered guest lectures in community and cultural planning at the University of Queensland and the Queensland University of Technology. Suzanne is also a PhD candidate at Griffith University undertaking practice-based research that investigates how more inclusive, interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary planning processes might contribute to building capacity, inclusive responses to change, and better long-term planning and placemaking outcomes. As an Adjunct Research Fellow at Griffith University, she would love to work with other community and cultural practitioners and communities, and local governments to develop collaborative research, learning and practice-based opportunities within a collaborative network. Feel free to contact me if you'd like to hear more about previous projects and my research, and I'm extremely interested in hearing about the practice and/or research of others working in this space.
