About Suzanne Ryan-Numrich

I currently serve as the international trade director at the Kansas Department of Agriculture in Manhattan, Kansas. I work closely with industry leaders to drive Kansas’ international agriculture marketing programs and I am directly responsible for managing trade opportunities with current markets and expanding relationships in new export markets. In this position, I facilitate Kansas’ involvement in state regional trade groups and non-profits dedicated to increasing exports. I also work closely with agriculture trade associations and commodity commissions to support their efforts in international marketing. Specific work responsibilities include: • Providing international market development support and technical expertise for Kansas farmers, ranchers, and agribusinesses. • Leading the department’s international trade efforts for bulk commodities, livestock and genetics, finished goods, and feed and food ingredients/ finished products. • Conducting market research and coordinating training seminars to assist Kansas farmers, ranchers, and agribusinesses as they develop and execute their international trade plans. • Coordinating trade missions, trade shows, and other international marketing opportunities that directly support Kansas Agriculture Growth development goals. • Working directly with state regional trade groups and organizations such as Food Export Association of the Midwest, U.S. Livestock Genetics Export, Inc, U.S. Grains Council, and U.S. Meat Export Federation staff regarding Kansas’ activity and involvement within the organizations. • Working directly with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS), and Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) staff regarding programs and services. • Coordinating and hosting foreign buyers, state and national officials, and trade delegations.• Representing the division of agricultural marketing on the Kansas Department of Agriculture legislative team.• Providing USDA livestock market reporting coverage on an as-needed basis at three Kansas livestock auction markets.
