1996 - July 2021 - programmer at Ohio Casualty / Liberty Mutual. June 1996 -Dec 1996 - training program that taught COBOL, COBOL compiler and linkage editor, CICS, EZT, JCL, Xpediter, File-AID, SPUFI and IBM Db2. Dec 1996 - Dec 1997 assigned to Pool where I was loaned out to any system that needed help allowing me to refine my skills as a programmer and learn different departments in the company. Jan 1998 joined the PARIS team to develop an online API system PAIS(Policy And Rating Issuance System) as an associate programmer for the mainframe. Learned MQ series as MQ was chosen as the communication tool between midrange and mainframe. Modules accessed several systems, files and databases to gather data and send to the midrange servers. Started using Changeman as library for the mainframe code. Six Sigma, SDLC. Provide data to several downstream consumers. Became a Senior Software Developer and started mentoring junior developers. Updated mainframe from reading, writing and deleting files to inserting, selecting, deleting and updating data from/to IBM db2 tables. 2007 Liberty Mutual purchased Ohio Casualty where i transitioned to the eCLIQ project where the Ohio Casualty mainframe modules were converted to Liberty Mutual modules. Helped with IAA spec request using a local tool and DB Vis SQL to maintain the db2 tables. Became subject matter expert (SME) for the mainframe until approximately 2012 when I started to learn java, js and jsp in a bootcamp. Mainframe modules were rewritten from using linkage section for data passed in to using CICS TS Queue (temporary storage). I started to transition to the server side and eventually trained my trainer to take over the mainframe. The modules are still running today.
