About Sven Arnold

I am a Project Management Consultant for groundwater remediation with 17 years of experience in research, consulting and project management. I have proven technical expertise in the field of groundwater and soil water modelling, hydrological and ecological monitoring, water resources management, and post-mining land reclamation. For seven years I was involved in diverse projects for the Coal Seam Gas and Mining Industry in Australia conducting research related to the engineering of waste rock facilities, numerical modelling of soil and groundwater movement, seed germination on post-mining land, and drought and rainfall frequency analyses. Back in Germany since 2017, I have been involved in groundwater remediation projects at the former lignite processing sites "Coking Plant Lauchhammer ", “Schwarze Pumpe” and the waste dump site “Terpe” (working under the Federal Mining Act of Germany). As a key expert I am providing expert opinion and report reviews on hydrogeology in the context of the Repository Site Selection Act (German: StandAG) as well as for the German Society for International Cooperation on mine closure issues in the Ukraine. I have demonstrated excellent leadership skills in my roles as chief investigator of research and industry projects as well as my role as principal supervisor of postgraduate (PhD, MS) and undergraduate students. I have strong environmental regulatory knowledge, demonstrated success in program development and project management of complex and technical projects. I have published my work in numerous peer-reviewed scientific journal articles, conference proceedings and book chapters, and numerous industry reports.
