Background

About Sven Niekel

In 2020, I received my honors Bachelor’s degree with cum laude in ‘Philosophy, Politics and Economics’ from the Vrije Universiteit, and in 2022 my two Master’s degrees from Leiden University: one in ‘Public Administration: Public Management and Leadership’ and the other in ‘Governance of Sustainability’ with cum laude as well. My academic career cultivated my interest in sustainability and governance and my appreciation of an interdisciplinary perspective on policy issues. I aspire to put this knowledge to use in policymaking in the field of spatial planning, ecology and the energy transition. In my career, I find it important to be able to continue learning and through my work promote the public good, contribute to sustainable solutions and advance the effective use of scientific knowledge in policy. Driven, critical and organized characterize my working style. At this moment, I am working as a Spatial Planning Trainee for Yacht Trainees, during which I will complete three projects over the course of three years at three different employers and follow a soft-skills program from Relevance. I am currently actively looking for my first assignment.
