Background
About Swani Keelson
I had the opportunity of speaking at the 2023 United Nations Water Conference on Humanitarian Responses to Emerging Water Crises as a Result of Extreme Climatic Events. With extensive experience in global health and sustainable development, I am proud to have founded Global Water Promise, a non-profit organization that focuses on providing clean water to developing countries through borehole drilling. My academic background includes a Master's Degree in International Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University, and a Master's degree in Government with a focus on Legal Studies. I am currently pursuing a doctorate in International Affairs at Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.Throughout my career, I have spearheaded development projects focused on gender studies, human rights education, and civil society engagement. I have had the opportunity to undertake missions in Haiti, Bolivia, Belize, and Ghana to raise awareness about global water poverty. I am known for my expertise in international research and civil society involvement in sustainable development. I am committed to improving environmental sanitation and hygiene practices by providing technical guidance for clean water programs in Latin America & and the Caribbean, South America, Africa, and Central America. In addition, I have spearheaded development projects focused on women's and girl's reproductive rights and providing menstrual hygiene. My goal is to promote gender equity and empower women and girls by ensuring that they have access to the resources they need, including clean water and sanitary products. I am known for my expertise in international research and civil society involvement in sustainable development, and I am confident that my skills and experience will make me a valuable addition to any team focused on promoting sustainable development and improving access to clean water and menstrual hygiene in developing countries.
