About Sydney Boyd

Hi! My name is Sydney Boyd and I am currently a fourth-year student at the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. I am currently pursuing a degree in both finance and accounting majors. In terms of past experience, I had a paid internship at Midwest Family Mutual Insurance where I was tasked with shelving confidential documents, submitting requests for property inspections on the behalf of the company's underwriters, and I proofed the legitimacy of high value checks coming in and out of the company. This position helped me showcase my organizational skills, my ability to complete tasks in a timely manner, and also being able to carefully transfer confidential information. More recently I have been a summertime nanny to four kids which has helped me grow my problem solving skills, my time management skills, as well as my ability to come up with creative and imaginative activities that help the kids learn while making sure they are having fun. Outside of those occupations, in high school I was involved in Deca and held the position of Vice President of Finance where I was in charge of organizing fundraisers. I also was a Link leader and in that position I was assigned a group of freshmen to mentor as they navigated the new terrain of high school. I have also been involved with the Women in Business group here on campus and I am excited to be more involved in years to come. This year I have had the opportunity to become a Welcome Week Leader which allows me the chance to meet and connect with the incoming class of 2026 and help them transition their new collegiate lifestyle.
