About Sydney Collins

I am currently a Psychology and Criminology double major, and I hold certifications in Social-Behavioral-Educational Research, Public Health Research, Biomedical Research, and Conflicts of Interest. Additionally, I have completed the Criminal Justice Information Services Security and Privacy Training through the FBI. My deep-seated passion lies in criminology and psychology, with a specific focus on addressing human trafficking at the federal level. My practical experience includes serving as a Criminal Justice Intern at the Harrisonburg Police Department, where I engaged in various units and applied my academic knowledge to real-world challenges. I also conducted an independent study on "Gifted Kid Burnout" under the guidance of Dr. Erin Miller, head of the Psychology department at Bridgewater College. Looking ahead, I will be attending the Central Shenandoah Criminal Justice Training Academy in early 2026 to further enhance my law enforcement skills. I am eager to leverage my coursework, internship experience, and research projects in practical settings and am enthusiastic about learning from seasoned professionals and networking with peers. I am confident in my ability to contribute meaningfully to organizations that share my commitment to bridging the gap between criminology and psychology.
