About Sydney Conlon

In Spring 2021, Sydney earned a dual degree in Public Health and Biology from the University of New Mexico. She currently works as an Industrial Hygiene and Safety Specialist. Sydney's journey in healthcare began at the age of seventeen when she became an EMT. Over the years, she dedicated a substantial amount of her time to working in healthcare settings within marginalized and underserved communities across New Mexico. After gaining invaluable experience in New Mexico hospitals, Sydney pursued a BS at the College of Population Health at the University of New Mexico. Her passion for social and political justice, coupled with her healthcare experiences, led her to a deep interest in Public Health. While at the University of New Mexico, Sydney secured an internship with the New Mexico State Human Services Department. She played a pivotal role in the state's COVID-19 sheltering response, managing and organizing the Albuquerque System of Care COVID response for unhoused individuals. Following graduation, Sydney joined the New Mexico Environment Department, where she served as a member of the Executive Leadership Team. During her time at NMED, Sydney discovered her passion for occupational health and safety. She then took on a role as a compliance specialist at Stericycle, where she provided guidance to clients in areas such as bloodborne pathogens, OSHA, HIPAA, and HazCom regulations. Today, Sydney is a dedicated Industrial Hygiene and Safety Professional at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Throughout her career, she remains committed to enhancing the health and well-being of the people of New Mexico.
