Background

About Sydney Dell

In addition to my education in computer science, molecular biology, and health policy, I also have professional experience working in the tech industry as well as leadership roles on projects spanning both public and private sectors. My academic background has provided me with a strong foundation in both technical and analytical skills. At MIT, I have excelled in coursework such as Software Construction, Design and Analysis of Algorithms, and Data Science of Political Science. I have extensive experience building projects and analyzing large datasets in Python, R, and MATLAB. I've also worked on full-stack development by building web applications, abstract data types, and servers in TypeScript. My academic classes have also given me practical experience with time-series modeling and data visualization. In my roles at Bloomer Health Tech, I developed a machine learning classifier that optimized model accuracy while minimizing computational resources. This experience, coupled with my work on predictive analysis and statistical modeling, has prepared me to handle the complex data processing and AI tasks outlined in your job description. Additionally, my internship at the Massachusetts Department of Health involved analyzing patient data to enhance COVID-19 vaccine outreach, showcasing my ability to derive actionable insights from large datasets. My leadership roles, including serving as the Director of Camp Kesem MIT and teaching various science curriculums through Global Teaching Labs, have equipped me with strong project management and team integration skills. These experiences demonstrate my ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, manage projects with high stakes, and communicate complex ideas. Outside work, I love reading new books and am always open to new recommendations. I love traveling and have visited over 7 different countries in the past year. Part of my travel experience was with MIT, where I lived with a host family in Como, Italy while teaching high school students. That experience challenged me to grow as a teacher, quickly adapt to a new environment, and find new ways to explain technical ideas to students who knew English as a third language. I would love to connect! I'm always looking to meet new people and exchange ideas. Feel free to reach me through LinkedIn or email me at sdell1919@gmail.com.
