About Sydney Jackson

While I have been a classroom teacher for the last five years, I have had several other pursuits during that time. Not only do I teach in a special education classroom but I was also the team lead for two years at my school which required me to lead meetings, organize learner activities, and plan our budget spending. I also presented information about special education to the rest of the teachers in my school during professional development days. I find being in a leadership role very rewarding and would like to continue to grow into positions of responsibility. I also have a large interest in technology. I was a teacher in the summer for two years for a program called High Tech Kids where I taught classes such as game design, IPad and Flash animation, photography and web design, and robotics. This was one of my favorite positions as I feel very passionately about technology and using it as a tool to inspire young children. I am also currently the Robotics coach for an after school club at my school in Dallas ISD, and have taken my team to competitions and scrimmages around the metroplex. As someone who just loves to help I also have opened myself up as a private tutor in my free time. I have taught students from second grade to seniors in college in all subjects. I find that assessing a student individually and having the freedom to plan lessons to their specific needs is a great use of my special education training. I enjoy tracking the progress my students make and being able to incorporate activities that will really make an impression on them.
