About Sydney Lasike

I graduated from Dixie State University, in St. George, Utah, in 3 years with my degree in Media Studies (Multimedia Journalism Emphasis). There, I competed as a student-athlete on the women’s volleyball team, and began my journey into journalism. I was awarded as the 2021 Media Studies Student of the Year, and graduated with Latin Honors - Magna Cum Laude. After graduating, I decided to continue my path into higher education by pursuing a masters degree at Utah State University in Logan, Utah. I graduated with a masters degree in Communication Studies while also working part-time as a graduate instructor. I teach undergraduate students at USU in classes such as Interpersonal Communication and Public Speaking. While teaching and being a student, I also worked part-time for Utah Public Radio as a General News Reporter. Each week I write short news stories and produce them to air on our local radio. Utah Public Radio is a talk-radio station ran through Utah State University and a product of NPR. I am a member of the Society of Professional Journalists and have won an award through that organization as Dixie State University’s Journalism Graduate of the Year.
