About Sydney Leeper

I am a recent undergraduate from Kansas Wesleyan University, graduating with two bachelor’s in Biomedical Chemistry and Physics. Currently employed by Noveon Magnetics as a Laboratory Engineer. Testing and analyzing the multiple steps of production of a magnet. The summer of 2023 I was part of the RLEAD REU at Rice University in Houston,Tx. My mentor who I worked closely with was in Xiao lab working on Non-canonical amino acids. The projects I part took in was on protein structure of HIV antiviral and protein structure of a breast cancer antibody. This experience taught me skills such as; running Protein Gels, DNA Gels, Mass spec, PCR, sonication, and other various laboratory skill found in a chemistry lab. It also taught me the importance of research in this world, which is how we move forward. This past summer I was at Kansas State University. Working in the Atomic Molecular Optics group in the physics department. We are worked on ultra fast laser pulse systems to create atomic spectrums. Including, photoelectron angular distribution spectrums, photoelectron spectrums, mass spectroscopy and from these we could get original geometry of the simple atomic molecules. With split time in the lab and the office, trained on various tools, devices, codes, and laser systems.
