About Sydney Morris
I am recent graduate of SUNY at Albany, studying Public Policy and Administration with a concentration in Technology and Government and American Politics. Unfortunately, public university is expensive; however, working through college has allowed me to develop skills in time management, communication, problem-solving and teamwork better than the classroom could. I am interested in the way technology is able to shape government processes while improving public service and bettering public trust. At District Council 37 (DC37), I have been able to focus on the policy issues affecting New York City municipal workers on the state level. I am proud of the legislation I helped to advance including criminal justice reform (Clean Slate), tenant protection (Good Cause Evections) and climate justice (Climate Change Superfund Act). Our advocacy included lobbying legislators, policy research, memo drafting, legislative tracking and crafting state legislative and budget priorities. The hybrid work model at DC37 has allowed me to translate the skills I developed from attending university online to the work force.
