About Sydney Risen
I am a Toxicology PhD candidate who is passionate about improving patient outcomes through strong science communication and quality pharmaceutical research. I have a particular interest in neurodegenerative disease and how neuroinflammation can be targeted via pharmaceuticals to slow and halt the progressions of disease. Throughout my PhD, I have had the honor to collaborate with many research groups across the Colorado State University campus, partners in the biotech industry, and various labs across the United States. Additionally, I interned at Tolmar Inc. designing nonclinical toxicology studies, preparing study reports for FDA submission, and developing databases with safety information for pharmaceutical excipients used in formulation development. As I prepare to graduate in May 2025, I am actively searching for opportunities to gain more knowledge and experience to pursue a career as a Medical Science Liaison.
