About Sylvain Dore

I am passionate about Research, Education, Family-Friends, Traveling, Health, Water, Dogs, Horses, Architecture, Modern Dance, Live Performances, Staying active mentally and physically, and helping others- I am also an active advocate for listening and proposing/implementing changes to foster success and well-being for ALL my academic basic scientists and clinical colleagues- With an extraordinary team of students and fellows, my NeuroICU DoréLab focuses on translational research combining preclinical and clinical biospecimens and data. We focus on diseases such as Ischemic Stroke (IS), Hemorrhagic Strokes (ICH, SAH), Concussion, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Alzheimer's, Vascular Dementia (CAA), Sickle Cell Disease/Anemia, and Aging. We are investigating various pathways, e.g. Neuroinflammation, Antioxidant, Precision/Personalized Medicine. We are targeting various proteins and molecules (COX-2, PGE2, GPCRs, TLRs, Hemoglobin, Haptoglobin, Hemopexin, Heme Oxygenase, Bilirubin, Biliverdin, Iron, Carbon Monoxide and Nrf2) using different means from standardized natural compounds (red wine, tea, ginseng, ginkgo biloba, chocolate/cocoa, resveratrol) to pharmacological/bioengineered ones (DMF, DFO, HBED, Decoy Receptors, AAVs, etc.)
