About Sylvana Joyce

Sylvana Joyce (she/her) is a native New Yorker and a classically trained pianist, singer, actress, voiceover artist and composer. Her grandfather was a prominent songwriter/musicologist in Romania (Claude Romano/George Sbarcea). Her eponymous band, Sylvana Joyce & The Moment, blends Balkan/Latin flavor with Rock. They have played over shows in the Northeast, including Webster Hall and Hard Rock Cafe Boston. The band has received major press (Huffington Post, MTV, The Village Voice) and their sophomore LP “Heavyhead” (2017) is a dark, orchestral record with theatrical and dynamic propulsion - think a modern “Tori Amos” meets “Queen”. The album, which features Medusa on the cover, is the musical and thematic inspiration for a new musical being written in collaboration with Stephanie Salzman and Patricia Cotter (Gurman Agency). Sylvana recently toured nationally with the Moment in The Last Match: A Pro-Wrestling Rock Experience, for which she also contributed as composer/lyricist with husband C. Robert Smith (dir. Jeremiah James Schalberg, book: Jason Huza). Their first concert presentation, starring Broadway favorites Ramin Karimloo and Amber Ardolino as well as former WWE champion Matt Cardona, received 11 awards from Broadway World in 2023 including Best Musical, Best New Musical, Best Music Direction, and Best Ensemble. Sylvana has also toured nationally with TUSK: The Ultimate Fleetwood Mac Tribute (as Christine McVie); notable performances include Count Basie Theatre (Red Bank, NJ), Harrod’s (Atlantic City, NJ), and Peoria Civic Center (Peoria, IL). Recent Acting credits: Film Agent Gretel in Secret Magic Control Agency (Netflix). TV Penguin Keyboardist (co-star) in Gotham (Fox). Regional: SuperFan in The Last Match (JCTC). Sylvana currently works freelance as a voice actor, content writer and voice/piano teacher. As an actor, she is Meisner trained and fully vaccinated and boosted.
