Sylvester Lee is a dedicated and driven sophomore at Georgia State University, majoring in Chemistry with a concentration in Biochemistry and a minor in Japanese. Maintaining a 3.73 GPA, he has consistently demonstrated academic excellence in challenging courses, including Organic Chemistry 2, Calculus 2, Biochemistry, and Microbiology. This strong academic foundation has fueled his passion for pharmaceutical research and medicinal chemistry, and he is committed to pursuing a career in these fields. Throughout his academic journey, Sylvester has sought out practical, hands-on experiences to complement his studies. At PCOM, he had the opportunity to work in the simulation lab, where he was actively involved in manned suture stations, assisting in the preparation of medical students. This included examining and repurposing stations to simulate real-world medical scenarios, such as prepping students for procedures involving genitalia. Additionally, he was entrusted with moving cadavers for surgical students, contributing to their understanding of human anatomy. During his time at PCOM, Sylvester also had the unique opportunity to observe live surgeries, gaining invaluable insight into medical procedures and further enhancing his understanding of the practical applications of healthcare knowledge. At Complete Care Pharmacy, Sylvester was exposed to the drug-making process, observing firsthand how pharmaceuticals are created. This experience provided him with a deeper understanding of the scientific rigor involved in pharmaceutical production and reinforced his interest in medicinal chemistry. By witnessing the preparation and production of medications, Sylvester gained practical knowledge of how chemistry plays a crucial role in patient care. Beyond his academic and professional pursuits, Sylvester is also committed to community service. As a volunteer at Coop Ministry, he contributes to various outreach efforts, offering support to those in need. Through this volunteer work, he has developed strong interpersonal and teamwork skills while giving back to his community. Sylvester’s academic achievements, combined with his hands-on experiences in both pharmaceutical research and healthcare, have shaped him into a well-rounded and driven individual.
