Background
About Sylvia Nemmers
I was born totally blind, but had a surgery at the age of four that gave me a little vision back. A few months after that surgery, I was placed in a residential institutional school for the blind, where I stayed for three years. I was then enrolled at a private Catholic school with the children of doctors, lawyers, and politicians. In high school, I was told I shouldn’t study science due to my blindness. Now I hold a PhD in Environmental Science and am the Department Chair for the largest environmental science programs in the USA. I have lived in six countries and seven states, am fluent in Arabic, and have three amazing grown children. My life has provided me the opportunity to experience the world in unique ways with adventures and takeaways I can’t wait to share. If you or your organization is looking for a speaker; please visit my website and explore my speaking menu. This is just a sample of topics I have covered.
