About Sylvie Clappe

After a PhD combining both ecology and statistics, I decided to leave academia with the aim of bridging this world with the wider society and businesses. My overall mission is to provide clear and powerful insights to decision makers through statistical indicators and data. Doing statistics is easy but making them understandable is much more vexing. To do this I use tailored data analytics and a strong storytelling. In my current organisation, I launched my new publications with webinars attended by national and international stakeholders as well as the media. Specialised in statistics, networking and storytelling, I can develop any statistical area and make the outputs impactful. In my organisation, I grew the capacity and influence of a new statistical area by leveraging data and expertise to actively develop national and international networks. Very pro-active and enthusiastic, I identify and avail of opportunities to innovate. I secured a long-term relationship involving my organisation, academia and another governmental body to place Ireland as one of the European leaders and pioneers in environmental statistics. I am used to work with a wide range of data and stakeholders, coordinating efforts and various needs to achieve a common goal. My aim is to place my customers at the forefront of innovation while mitigating the risks of novelty.
