About Tabatha White

I am a lover and advocate of trees. I have been a certified arborist since 2009 for both the Massachusetts Arborists Association and the International Society of Arboriculture. Following my graduation from the Forestry program at the University of Maine, I spent five years in Boston where I coordinated the planting of over trees. Following Boston, I worked for the City of New York for three years where I procured over of the highest quality street trees for the five boroughs while simultaneously running a multi-million dollar citywide restitution contract. From 2016 - 2022, I changed course and began working for the private landscape companies, Atlantic Landscape Construction and The Garden Artisans, in Ellsworth, Maine. ALC is a family owned business, incorporated in 1975, that specializes in the installation of large-scale plant material and instant mature, native landscapes. The Garden Artisans is a smaller full service landscape construction company that provides fully integrated landscape design and construction services for all types of projects. In both positions, I was responsible for buying plant material, insuring quality control, and managing our plant inventory, landscape sales, project management, running landscape machines and equipment, business administration, customer service. In 2023 I became self employed where I continue to sell, design, and install landscape projects. I also started a small scale tree and plant nursery. My passion for urban forestry and arboriculture has also landed me on the Ellsworth Green Plan team and most recently the Chair of the Ellsworth Arbor Commission. My goal is to introduce a community/urban forestry plan that will help my hometown to preserve and protect existing trees, plant new trees along the cities streets, maintain new and existing trees, and change the current ordinances to achieve a more robust and canopied urban core. As of May 2022, we have broken ground on a new tree nursery that will hold 500 trees and will help us to reduce the costs of tree planting throughout the city.
