About Tae Sung
Tae Sung is passionate about helping people understand the power of language and literature to cultivate their gifts to transform every sphere of culture and serve the least of these. He began his undergraduate studies as a bioengineer at UC San Diego before switching his major to English literature. After completing his M.A. in theology from Fuller Seminary and his Ph.D. in American literature & critical theory from UC Irvine where he was awarded the Strauss Fellowship in English and the Koehn Fellowship in critical theory, he has spent over a decade at CBU, teaching literature and leading student success initiatives, including the launch of the University Writing Center, the annual Distinguished Public Lecture series, the annual Faculty Research Writing Retreat, the development and integration of AI technologies, and the opening of the Study Space. His writing has appeared in Books & Culture, the William James Studies journal, the journal of Religion and Literature, the Emerson Society Papers, and elsewhere. He is working on a novel and completing a scholarly monograph titled, Pragmatism and the Postsecular: The Gift in American Philosophy, Literature, and Religion (Bloomsbury), which is projected to be the first in a three-part series on the Spirit in American literature.
