About Tagor Sembiring

Tagor Malem Sembiring is an experienced nuclear engineer with expertise in reactor physics and nuclear safety. After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from Gadjah Mada University, he worked at BATAN (National Nuclear Energy Agency of Indonesia) from 1993 to 2021, conducting research on research reactors, PWR, and HTGR nuclear power reactors. He has also collaborated with BAPETEN, Indonesia’s nuclear regulatory body, reviewing Safety Analysis Reports (SAR) and contributing to regulations for non-LWR reactors. Currently, he serves as Nuclear Safety Senior Manager at PT ThorCon Power Indonesia (since 2021). His prior roles at BATAN include Principal Researcher, Division Head, and Senior Researcher, focusing on nuclear reactor technology and safety. Tagor has engaged in international research and courses, including training at Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA), Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI), and PNC Japan, specializing in reactor physics and nuclear safety. His IAEA involvement includes serving as Chief Scientific Investigator in the IAEA CRP and contributing to research reactor benchmark publications. He has actively participated in numerous international conferences on nuclear reactor research across Europe, the US, and Asia. His scientific publications can be accessed via Google Scholar and ORCID, and he is proficient in various nuclear reactor analysis codes like WIMS, MCNP, SCALE, CITATION, and SRAC-2006. Overall, Tagor is a dedicated researcher and team-oriented professional, contributing significantly to Indonesia's nuclear energy sector through research, safety assessments, and international collaboration.
