About Tahera D.

She has submitted her PhD Thesis at the Centre of East Asian Studies Jawaharlal Nehru University New Delhi India. Her PhD research focuses on the domestic remodelling of economic institutions and the financial restructuring undertaken in the People’s Republic of China since the late 1980s which set the stage for the emergence of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in 2013. The economic reforms' success over two decades jumpstarted China’s economic rise and the gradual build-up of its forex reserves by the end of the first decade of the 21st century. This in turn triggered a process of domestic economic restructuring leading to the establishment of new financial institutions such as the state policy banks China Development Bank (CDB) China Exim-Import Bank (CHEXIM) and the Sovereign Wealth Funds (SWFs). The thesis looks at the expansion of China's state capitalism to the global arena by mobilizing Chinese enterprises and public and private funds to support Beijing's geo-economic goals. She has also been very actively involved in civil society organisations pursuing gender equality agenda. She believes that female growth and development can further the blossoming of our societies. She has also been involved with the public policy sector on the development and social change issues.
