About Tai Simpson

Hi! I’m Tai (they/them), and I’m a Kentucky native living in Philadelphia, PA where I’m pursing a PhD in epidemiology at Drexel University. I approach my work using an intersectional lens to understand how systems of power impact mental health outcomes and barriers to healthcare at the intersections of sexual orientation, gender, race, and place (urban/rural). My goals as a researcher include documenting disparities for rural sexual and gender minority communities of color, operationalizing intersectionality in health equity research, and integrating community-rooted approaches in epidemiological work. My hope is to work alongside communities I consider myself a part of and those that helped raise me to ensure better health access and care for all.
