About Talia Levy

While I was earning my B.S. and helping with Agricultural Extension research in New Hampshire it became clear to me: I would love to assist farmers, and to help keep current the body of agricultural knowledge. When I finished my degree, I felt the weight in the importance of giving farmers extremely informed and financially practical advice. I knew that I needed more hands-on experience. Thus began my quirky stream of positions in agriculture, occasional foodservice, and winters abroad. Let me summarize the past six years with some digestible lists: Farming Experience-Harvest Manager at 60+acre organic veggie operation -Farmers Market Manager, Cider Manager, and Team Leader at an Agrotouristic Fruit Orchard -Assistant Manager at a 7-acre seed-contract farm in rural Southern Oregon -Independent Contractor at various recreational-marijuana operations -Self Employment as Fruit-Tree Pruner and Landscaper Travel Experience-Volunteer at Vandana Shiva's Navdanya Bio-Farm in Dehradun, India -Trekked the Annapurna Circuit, Nepal -Volunteer at Kibbutz-Harduf, the only Steiner-inspired Kibbutz in Israel -Went on an overnight hike in the Negev Desert -Climbed Mt. Chirripo in Costa Rica -Began learning Spanish in Costa Rica -Continued Spanish immersion during 3 months in Mexico -Spent 3 months in Europe summer 2023, refreshing my French and continuing Spanish immersion Writing Experience-Co-founded the Rogue Writer's Guild -Started writing novels and short stories voraciously -Published in Slingshot and MicroLit Almanac, Fiction on the Web -Wrote interactive typewriter poetry for hundreds of passersby Now, I am taking the next step in my journey by joining the team of Small Farms Extension folks who are doing awesome work all around the state of Oregon!
