About Talyia Fordham
I am a doctoral candidate at the University of Missouri pursuing a degree in nutritional sciences. I am mentored by Dr. Elizabeth Parks and her lab's research is focused primarily on nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. My research investigates the intersection of the endocrine system with metabolism. In particular, I am interested in how sex hormones influence lipid synthesis and use. My undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri (MU) was in Nutrition and Fitness, with a capstone course in Sports Nutrition. Prior to starting my doctoral program, I obtained a graduate certificate in Public Health from MU. My career goal is to stay in academia with both teaching and research responsibilities.
