About Tamara Brooks

Tamara N.S. Brooks is currently the Senior Human Resources Consultant for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency where she provides expert advice and counsel in a wide range of human resources disciplines to a geographically dispersed district management team. Formerly, Tamara served as the Branch Chief for the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Human Resources, Office of Recruitment, Employment, and Examination. In her capacity as Branch Chief, she managed over ten student employment programs for the Department, such as the Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship and the Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Program. In addition, she was responsible for managing the program operation, policy development and implementation of the Department’s student recruitment for all career Foreign Service and Civil Service positions. While working for the State Department Tamara was detailed to the Secretary’s Office, U.S. Global Aids Coordinator. While on detail Tamara assisted with the coordination of the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) that supports $15 billion over 5 years to international countries. PEPFAR virtually triples U.S. international HIV/AIDS assistance, including bilateral programs that continue in some 75 countries. Prior to joining the OCC, Tamara’s accomplished public service career includes her tenure at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Headquarters, the U.S. Department of Justice, Executive Office for United States Attorneys, and the U.S. Department of Defense, Communication-Electronics Command. She received her B.S. in Family Studies and her Master of Education, both from the University of Maryland at College Park. Specialties: She holds a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) Certification through the Society for Human Resources Management and was selected for the 2009-2010 U.S. Department of Commerce Science and Technology Fellowship.
