About Tamara Gaydos
At the Phillips Library at the Peabody Essex Museum, I was responsible for processing and cataloging over linear feet of 18th- and 19th-century manuscript materials. This included writing finding aids, making decisions about preservation, and adding MARC records to our in-house catalog and OCLC. Over 13 years I processed many collections, including photographs, ranging from single items to 80 linear feet. I digitized several small collections and created metadata for them. I converted our legacy finding aids to EAD and they are displayed in ArchivesSpace. I wrote blog posts and tweets to promote our collections. I wrote the Phillips Library processing manual and have developed and implemented many policies and procedures.
