My professional career has been characterised by two distinct phases: pre- and post-CIMA certification; acquiring the CIMA certification marked a transformative step in my professional journey. Preceding my accreditation, I held multiple roles in sales, procurement, and bookkeeping, providing me invaluable insights into customer service, negotiation, attention to detail, and the intricate interplay of finance with other organisational facets. In 2012, I earned my accreditation, which served as a pivotal point in my career progression. Two years later, I assumed the role of Finance Manager at emc3, a creative events agency. My diligent work ethic earned the trust of the CEO, who entrusted me with handling all finance-related matters. My competence and commitment to the role led to my promotion to the position of Financial Controller in 2019. This empowered me to refine my financial modelling, budgeting, analysis, and problem-solving skills, which proved vital when faced with the unprecedented challenges of the global pandemic. I played a crucial role in devising effective strategies to mitigate the impact of COVID-19, and three years later, the company's revenue increased by an impressive 135%, an accomplishment that I take immense pride in.
