About Tamara Mulherin

I am a multidisciplinary researcher/manager/trainer, who brings more than 20 years’ experience in the delivery, planning, management, governance, training and evaluation of national and local programmes. My background traverses urban and rural settings, and diverse domains (including, older people and people with disabilities drawing on care supports, mental health, youth services, public health, housing, homelessness and domestic violence) in the public and non-government sectors in Australia, Scotland and internationally. These diverse and demanding experiences have often been in situations of uncertainty with partnership-working at the centre. My doctorate was an inter-organisational, multi-sited ethnographic study into Health and Social Care integration in Scotland exploring mandated collaboration. My primary research interests lie in the nexus of practices associated with collaboration encompassing citizens, practitioners, services, organisations and the state. I am interested in extending understanding of relational practices in the context of infrastructures of care, community development, delivery, management and governance. I am also interested in organisational ethnography, practice theory approaches, feminist theorising of organisations and critical management. Given my practitioner history, I maintain an ongoing interest in issues associated with inequalities, complexity, policy implementation, knowledge mobilisation and organisational development in relation to public sector reform – especially how care is configured.
