About Tamara Richardson

I am the founder and principal investigator of Cornucopia Crop Consulting, a company specializing in pest control research, education, and crop management for the vegetable, tree fruit, and wine grape industries. With over 20 years of experience, I have developed and implemented Integrated Pest Management (IPM) plans and research projects for greenhouses, conifer seed orchards, ground crops, tree fruit orchards, and vineyards. Additionally, I am involved in on-farm food safety and sustainability, working both as an auditor and consultant.I have collaborated closely with industry groups, academic institutions, and provincial and federal government scientists in British Columbia on various projects. These include testing post-harvest management strategies for Spotted Wing Drosophila, assessing organically acceptable pest management methods for aphids and lepidopteran pests in tree fruit orchards, and investigating the viability of earwigs as biological controls of Rosy Apple Aphid, Oblique Banded Leaf Roller, and Eye-spotted Budmoth in the organic orchards of Southern British Columbia.Over the past several years, I have delivered numerous seminars on Integrated Pest Management, pollinators, and organic tree fruit management. I have shared ongoing projects and new research findings through workshops and talks in Canada and the US.I am passionate about working with others who are excited about insects, ecology, farming, and applied research.
