About Tamika Roach-Attard

As an Education Futures Outreach Officer at UniSA, I am deeply passionate about empowering disadvantaged school students through equitable access to career education. With a focus on fostering self-efficacy, agency, and career awareness, I have years of experience creating meaningful relationships with primary and secondary schools to foster opportunities that inspire young minds to envision and achieve brighter futures. I manage and coordinate the UniSA Careers Compass 6 (Year 6) and Careers Compass 10 (Year 10) programs, which are carefully aligned with ACARA V9 General Capabilities, the Australian Blueprint for Career Development, and the SACE Exploring Identities and Futures subject. These programs provide personalised guidance and hands-on experiences for students in low-SES primary and secondary schools to bridge the gaps in career education and broadening their horizons. Beyond program management, I take pride in mentoring UniSA Initial Teacher Education (ITE) students—undergraduate, postgraduate, domestic, and international— supporting them to build teaching confidence and gain practical experience in school settings to prepare them for their professional teaching placements. I am highly motivated to provide international teaching students as much practical experience in schools as possible to prepare them for the Australian school culture. This passion is driven by my experience as a UniSA Teaching graduate, which has shaped my commitment to guide and mentor future initial teacher educators in their journey beyond university. In addition to mentoring UniSA ITE students, I am also a supervisor for third-year psychology placement students at UniSA. As a UniSA Psychology graduate, I am dedicated and driven to give back to the UniSA student community by supporting, coaching and mentoring psychology placement students to apply their psychological knowledge and counselling and interpersonal skills in real-world settings to prepare them for their final step in their degree, before graduation.
