About Tammy Moscrip

As a former researcher at the National Institutes of Health and Columbia University, Tammy dedicated nearly a decade to exploring the evolution of cognition through her study of nonhuman primate learning and memory. Fascinated by the sophisticated minds of our nonhuman primate companions, Tammy later began working with (human) students with various learning differences, often as a result of traumatic brain injury, Lyme Disease, or emotional trauma. She later sought a clinical license with a speciality in children and families. As such, Tammy is particularly interested in the intersection of the brain, cognition, emotions, and behavior. By integrating her knowledge of neuroscience and clinical practice, she supports children and families in their development of cross-disciplinary skills and strategies that involve essential life skills such as effective interpersonal interactions, emotional regulation, and personal resilience. As Executive Director of The Spire SchooI, Tammy subscribes to a strengths-based instructional methodology and supports her clinical team in its application of cognitive and dialectical behavior therapeutic techniques that complement the unique social-cognitive-behavioral profiles that shape individual students’ learning styles and academic success. Additionally, Tammy teaches topics in psychology, statistics, human development, and research methodology to the amazing group of intellectually-curious students here at The Spire School.
