About Tamra Capps

I enjoy working in a hands on position in healthcare. I am grateful and proud to be at Baylor University Medical Center, an organization that has allowed me to work in several different areas I am currently in Apheresis, where I have learned to use the Cobe Spectra for a variety of blood collection procedures or therapeutic plasma exchange. Also trained in the use of the Therakos machine for photopheresis treatments.The position requires telemetry skills, constant monitoring of the patient for adverse reactions, and monitoring the machine to assure a quality product is obtained with collections. Often work out of the Apheresis area in ICU with transplant patients(solid organ or stem cell), who are often severely ill and require therapeutic plasma exchange or photopheresis It has been a challenge and very rewarding professionally. The team of physicians, nurses, and lab technicians are skilled and work as a unit to provide quality treatment and care for our patients. Previously I was in the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit serving a diverse population of patients also working also with an extremely professional team. I am Baylor certified in Telemetry and Chemotherapy Administration.
