About Tamsyn King

Hi! I'm Tamsyn, a Bachelor of Sustainability student at UBC Okanagan, specializing in Environmental Conservation and Management. I’m passionate about the intersections of geospatial data, public policy, and economics, especially focused on addressing climate change, energy, planning, and urban development. I’ve worked with tools like ArcGIS Pro, R, and Excel in both academic and professional settings, supporting projects that involve mapping infrastructure, managing spatial data systems, and visualizing environmental and planning data. I'm especially interested in how GIS and data-driven approaches can support smarter, more equitable policy and planning decisions. I am currently working with the Institute for Community Engaged Research at UBC Okanagan as a Data Management and Outreach Assistant, where I am contributing to a SSHRC grant-funded project focused on developing a Community Engaged Research Data Management Toolkit. I am also involved with the Sustainbility Course Union at UBC Okanagan as their Third Year Representative, helping to plan events, connect students with resources, liase with staff, and build a stong community in the Bachelor of Sustainability program.
