About Tanay Mathur

I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Information Technology- Information Security from Carnegie Mellon University, and deepening my skills in network security, browser security, cloud security, cyber risk modeling and more. My academic journey and practical experiences have consistently driven my passion to protect digital environments and understanding complex information security systems. Previously, I had the opportunity to work as a Security Analyst Intern at Techdefence Labs, where I conducted comprehensive Vulnerability Assessments and Penetration Testing (VAPT) for renowned clients across various sectors, including finance, energy, and healthcare. My role involved identifying and mitigating 65+ vulnerabilities, using tools like Nmap, Metasploit, Burp Suite, and Wireshark, as well as delivering detailed technical reports to clients that align with industry best practices (NIST, PTES, OSSTMM). These experiences strengthened my ability to analyze risks effectively and propose robust solutions, ensuring the security and resilience of systems. In addition to my professional experience, I have developed multiple security-oriented projects, including an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) utilizing Convolutional Neural Networks that achieved nearly 98.89% accuracy on real-time network traffic. I also participated in the Dell Hackathon, where my team created a sustainable coding tool that monitors and optimizes carbon footprints in code execution which highlights my commitment to both security and sustainable technology practices. With certifications in CNSP, CAP, and CVA, and hands-on skills in tools related to network, web and cloud security, I am equipped to tackle the ever-evolving challenges in information security. I’m always looking to connect with professionals who are passionate about cybersecurity, emerging technologies, and the role of ethical hacking in today’s digital landscape.
