About Tanner Ilich

When I was younger I often had my head up in the clouds, coming up with new worlds and characters to fill my sketchbook with. Over the years I turned this wandering imagination into a career in classical animation. After working on shows such as Home, Captain Underpants, and Animaniacs, however, I wanted to move away from designing for the needs of cartoons and start in a more human-centric direction. Now that I have completed BrainStation's User Experience Design certificate program I am ready to pivot into the field of UX/UI. With 7 years of 2D animation experience, I have built a strong foundation in skills that are highly applicable to creating engaging and effective designs to meet the needs of users. Whether it be storytelling, visual communication, collaboration, or a strong eye for detail, the design process in animation and UX is one and the same. Sketching, storyboarding, and iterative prototyping is what I’ve done for years but now I plan to propel my career toward making the digital world a more usable and animated place. I'm proficient in Figma, Sketch, InVision, Zeplin, and the Adobe Suite, and am always learning more. Come see my work at
