About Tanner Vasquez

From a young age I was always fascinated by computers. My mom made it a priority in my life that I learn how to use computers because she knew it was going to keep growing in interest and popularity, either that or she knew I would be her personal IT support. My love for computers only increased over time but never really thought much of it and I focused on other things. Now I’m in my early 20’s looking for the next big step in my life. I tried traditional college and attended Portland community college for two years but lost my passion for business management. I honestly became lost. I didn’t know what I’d do next, I thought business was the next big step. Then during the pandemic, I found myself on social media a little bit too much and came across a man recording himself as he walked through the streets of New York. In the video he goes on to talk about a bootcamp and not the bootcamp you're probably thinking of, a programming bootcamp. My interest peaked! I had to know what this was and after doing some research I knew deep down this is what I was missing. I had just landed my first full time job at the time in early 2022 and put my dream on the back burner. I was given an amazing opportunity by two amazing guys to be part of their Electric Test Team. Without them I would not be here today looking for my first programming job. I began to earn enough to attend The Tech Academy in a ten-month software developer bootcamp. I’ve just finished up the bootcamp and I feel a huge sense of accomplishment. It was a rigorous ten months but I’m extremely happy I took the time and financial risk. I know what you’re thinking, “very young” and “inexperienced”. I understand that but once you get to know me, you’ll find that I am very hard working, willing to learn, and determined. Since I am so young, I can be easily molded into the employee you need. I have a drive and work ethic that you don’t find much in my generation. Where I lack experience, I make up for in my amenability, communication, and confidence. I also work especially well in a team-based setting because I can communicate effectively and I'm an extrovert by heart. In the end, I’m eager and hungry.
