Background
About Tanuj Puri
Ph.D. in medical imaging from University College Dublin in Ireland, with collaborative research at King's College London (KCL), and postdoctoral research at the University of Oxford, KCL, and Newcastle University, UK- Served as a special issue editor and peer reviewer for numerous international scientific journals, including J Clin Med, Biomoleclues, Front. Nucl. Med, NeuroImage, Clinical Oncology, Diagnostics, Cancers, Calcif Tissue Int, EJNMMI Research, Nucl Med Commun, EJNMMI Phys, and more- Author of 21 publications, including 15 first-authored papers. Co-authored clinical and technical manuscripts for various international scientific journals and magazines, such as Quant Imaging Med Surg, Oncology News, Eur J Nucl Med Mol Imaging, Osteoporos Int, J Nucl Med Technol, Bone, etc- Over 15 years of research experience in dynamic PET imaging methodology, quantification using mathematical and statistical models, image processing and analysis, and interpretation of results. Conducted clinical trials focusing on understanding the pharmacokinetics of radiotracers like [18F]FDG,[18F]NaF,[64Cu]ACuTSM, and [18F]FMISO for patient-targeted (precision) medicine, aiming to link imaging physics with the pathophysiology of disease in humans- Developed methods, including measuring Ki in bones using static 4-min or dynamic 12-min [18F]NaF PET scans, previously achievable only with a 60-min dynamic PET scan. Developed software tools for measuring Ki at the hip using 60-min dynamic [18F]NaF PET scans, providing evidence of reduced bone metabolism at the hip compared to the lumbar spine due to reduced blood flow. Also developed a method for spatially aligning [64Cu]CuATSM PET images and histology samples, cautioned against using [18F]FMISO PET for assessing hypoxia in rectal cancer, and created a software tool for measuring changes in pulmonary vascular properties in a human model of acute lung injury using DCE-MRI- Co-supervised B.Sc, M.Phys, M.Sc, M.B.B.S, and Ph.D. students while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams at the intersection of business, science, and technology. Involved in starting up a boutique clinical research organization with multiple awards.
