About Tanvi Patel

I am currently pursuing my PhD in Computer Science at Bowie State University while serving as a Predoctoral Fellow in the Medical Genomics Unit (MGU) within the Medical Genetics Branch (MGB) of the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI). My dissertation research focuses on developing diagnostic applications and generative AI models, utilizing advanced techniques like transformers and GANs to enhance medical imaging, with a particular emphasis on genetic facial expressions and multimodal integration with large language models (LLMs). My work has been recognized with publications in Bioinformatics and conference journals, and I have presented my findings at the ISMB conference. My background also includes virtual reality research, anomaly detection, and an internship at the NSA, where I worked on unsupervised text data analysis. With three years of experience as a PHP web developer, my recent endeavors have shifted toward machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI, particularly in the context of medical genomics and imaging. I am proficient in programming languages such as Python, C/C++, and Java, as well as Big Data tools. My career goal is to contribute to high-impact projects in a forward-thinking organization, focusing on data mining, AI, NLP, and related fields.
