About Tara C.

I graduated from the University of Houston-Downtown with a Bachelor's degree in Biology, concentrating on molecular and cellular biosciences. Although my undergraduate research focused on environmental biology, my true interest is cancer biology and the use of personalized and targeted treatments. I worked as a research assistant at MD Anderson, under Dr. Yang, investigating natural products and their anti-cancer effects. I am grateful to have co-authored several manuscripts and abstracts during my time in the lab. Currently, I am the Lead Clinical Data Abstracter with the Precision Oncology Decision Support team, under the leadership of Dr. Amber Johnson, and directors Dr. Kenna Mills-Shaw, and Dr. Funda Meric-Bernstram. I interpret and extract meaningful data from genomic sequencing and pathology reports so that our team may provide patient-specific annotations in order to help physicians with treatment decisions. I also assist in the upkeep of our PODSS knowledge-base by annotating clinical trials and drugs.
