About Tara Custer

I am always looking to expand my career portfolio and use my skills to help people access information, understand why it’s important to collect and analyze data, and make informed decisions. For the last decade+ I have worked in libraries with varying jobs and internships ranging from public libraries to academic libraries. I have a wide variety of skills including using ILS systems, OCLC, cataloging, resource sharing, course reserves, creating records of historical artifacts, customer service, promoting and marketing through the use of social media, and training and leading others. In the last few years I’ve gained an interest in looking at data and finding ways to use library data to make more informed decisions. Some examples include collections and saving space, how systems communicate together and how that translates to more efficient workflows, and serving as the data collector for my department to keep data organized and in one central location to make end of term or year reporting simpler. From all of my experiences, I have gained skills that have propelled me further in my career in the information industry. From my profile one can gather how I value customer service and working with others to assist in their information needs or problem solve. Recently, I was given a few management responsibilities to help lead a team. I am a quick learner and enjoy being challenged in new areas as I continue to expand my career.
