About Tara Kirkpatrick

At the end of the day my job involves people. I enjoy making meaningful connections and collaborating with others to make a difference in my community. I am a problem solver and a deep thinker who enjoys working on projects and communicating with others. I spent nearly a decade of my life working as a print journalist and sharing the remarkable stories of the people who represent our communities. As a journalist I had the opportunity to see the community through a different lens. To be the source of breaking news and to be a voice for people who may have felt they didn’t have a platform to speak on their own. As an Economic Development specialist in the municipal sector, my job continues to revolve around connecting people and helping them to build stronger communities. I work with businesses and community organizations to ensure they have the support they need to grow and to flourish in our communities and I work hard to attract new investments that may benefit from the talents and resources our region has to offer. Our community is diverse and so is my skillset. In my current position my days change regularly. I have to be ready for where the week takes me and for the opportunities that may arise. This could involve a walk in a farmers field to discuss emerging technologies and how agriculture will be impacted and how it could keep up. It could mean connecting with medical professionals in our community to discuss the benefits of rural medicine; or a tour a multimilion dollar logistics company that's expanding in the area and looking to the future. Maybe it's a day spent in the office reading through grant applications, preparing newsletters and managing branding channels that support our region. My job is about helping people grow their business and finding the right people and resources to succeed. I’d love to tell the story of how your business is going to come and grow with us.
