About Tara Samiy

Dr. Samiy has worked with adults, youth, and families dealing with a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, drug use, psychosis, age-related life issues such as physical and cognitive decline and extreme forgetfulness, chronic illness and pain, and death and dying. She enjoys supporting her clients with navigating personal and relational difficulties through the cultivation of self-awareness, agency, and compassion. Dr. Samiy’s therapeutic style is marked by an excellent grounding in existential-humanistic, neuroscientific, and psychoanalytic theory and research, and sensitivity and respect for cultural and individual uniqueness. For 15 years, Dr. Samiy has also studied and practiced somatic approaches to health and well-being, including body-oriented psychotherapy, dance/movement therapy, and yoga and other movement arts. She is interested in the role of the body and movement in emotional, cognitive, and spiritual processing and integration. Her primary influence and ongoing training is with Linda Lack, Ph.D. creator of The Thinking Body-The Feeling Mind®, a healing developmental movement technique.
