About Tara Sinclair
I am a macroeconomist, department chair, and professor at the George Washington University, a former Treasury official, and former chief economist at job site Indeed. At GW I am the chair of the department of economics and I teach undergraduate and graduate courses in macroeconomics and econometrics. My research focuses on macroeconomic forecasts and the labor market. From 2022-2024 I served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Macroeconomics in the Office of Economic Policy at the Department of Treasury, where I was responsible for Treasury’s domestic macroeconomic outlook and worked closely with Secretary Janet Yellen. From 2014-2016 I served as chief economist at Indeed, the #1 job site worldwide, and then continued on until 2022 as a senior fellow as part of the Indeed Hiring Lab. I founded the Indeed Hiring Lab and developed original research using Indeed data on labor markets around the world. I regularly speak at conferences and with the press on issues related to forecasting, recessions, labor markets, big data, macroeconomics, and policy issues.
