About Tarea Stout

Tarea Stout has worked in the counseling field for over 30 years. She has a wide range of experience of helping people with both physical and mental disabilities overcome challenges in life. She began her career working with youth and their families in various capacities including crisis work, outpatient, and residential programs. For many years, she worked in Vocational Rehabilitation from counselor to state director. In recent years, she has dedicated herself to working with families and students in middle and high schools through Madison County School District as the Transition Coordinator. Tarea Stout grew up in New Albany, MS. She earned a B.A in Psychology and M.S. in Counselor Education with a Community Counseling emphasis from Mississippi State University. She attended University of Tennessee earning a certificate in Deafness, and she completed the Executive Seminar through the National Rehabilitation Leadership Institute at San Diego State University. Tarea has received training in various therapeutic modalities including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and play therapy. She uses a holistic integrated approach that considers the bio-psycho-social spiritual aspects of the person. She specializes in the area where physical or medical conditions affect our mental health, life transitions, anxiety, depression, autism spectrum disorder, adjustment disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities. Tarea Stout provides individual and family counseling, career coaching, consulting, and training. She is currently accepting new clients.
