About Tarun Kumar Singh

I’m a Research and Development – Firmware Engineer specializing in Linux-based embedded networking systems. At Airoha Technology (MediaTek Group), I design and develop proprietary firmware modules that seamlessly integrate with the existing Linux kernel, enabling enhanced performance, scalability, and hardware-specific optimizations for production-grade devices. My work involves deep collaboration between proprietary code and open-source systems, particularly on platforms like OpenWrt, TCLinux, and RDK-B, where I focus on driver development, packet acceleration, multicast support, and kernel networking stack improvements. I actively use tools like ftrace, iperf, cscope, and Spirent for performance analysis and low-level debugging. During my internship at Status, I evaluated decentralized storage systems (Filecoin, Storj, Swarm, Arweave, Sia), setting up nodes and operating as both provider and user. I contributed to building a new fault-tolerant storage solution and authored detailed technical documentation outlining system architecture and improvements. With an M.Tech. in Computer Technology from IIT Jammu and a strong foundation in networking, operating systems, and C programming, I’ve also been recognized through achievements like the Cython hackathon (₹3L prize), RBI Harbinger 2024 finalist, and Amazon ML Summer School. My interests lie in building robust, scalable firmware that bridges low-level hardware and Linux, enabling high-performance embedded solutions for next-gen networking devices.
