About Taruna Sharma
In 2014, after completing my Master's in Biochemistry, I started my research journey by enrolling in a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) program at Jamia Millia Islamia. During this time, I conducted in-depth research on the biophysical aspect of various proteins, honing my expertise in this critical area. I also received comprehensive training in various advanced spectroscopic techniques, including UV-visible, fluorescence, Fourier-transform infrared, time-resolved, and circular dichroism spectroscopy. These techniques allowed me to analyze protein structure dynamics, and interactions in great detail, laying a strong foundation for my subsequent research endeavors. I got a decent publication from this work.Following this, I enrolled in a PhD program at the Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI), India. Over the past five years, my research has extensively focused on the biochemical pathways involved in mycobacterial disease biology. My work has involved in understanding the role of stored biomolecules in mycobacterial disease biology. These metabolic pathways unique to the bacterium can help in identifying potential vulnerabilities that could be targeted. Additionally, I have explored the regulatory networks that control important gene expression and metabolic processes in Mycobacterium tuberculosis, contributing to a deeper understanding of how this pathogen adapts and persists within the host. Through these studies, I have aimed to uncover new insights into the biology of tuberculosis and identify potential avenues for more effective treatments.Through my research, I have mastered the technical aspects of studying infectious disease biology. I received extensive training in handling and conducting animal infection studies, equipping me with the skills to perform complex experiments and analyze results effectively. I am actively seeking roles in biology-driven industries to apply scientific expertise and drive innovation in drug development, quality control, and biotechnology.
