About Taryn Brebant
Since beginning my teaching career in 2018, after graduating from Vancouver Island University I have been gifted with being able to learn and teach on both Penelakut Island, as well as Cowichan Tribes. I pride myself with being a culturally responsive educator that reflects on the First People’s Principles of Teaching, as well as the BC Ministry of Education curriculum allowing it to guide my teachings for each individual student. I was gifted with teaching grade 1 and 2 at Penelakut Island elementary school for 4 years where I enjoyed land based learning, attending elders meetings, community and cultural events and made many life long friends and relationships. I enjoy teaching art, outdoor education, and have found a passion for primary literacy. I have many years in the medical fields working with medically fragile children as an education assistant and adults with unique learning abilities.
